On December 5, the spirit of sharing and giving will be present at City Hall when Santa makes an early visit to Mayor Larry O’Brien to help celebrate the launch of the 24th annual OC Transpo Food Drive.


On December 5, the spirit of sharing and giving will be present at City Hall when Santa makes an early visit to Mayor Larry O’Brien to help celebrate the launch of the 24th annual OC Transpo Food Drive. Mayor O’Brien and City employees will greet Santa and his helpers with the first load of food donations on the HO-HO-HOC Transpo bus. The food drive takes place on Saturday, December 6. The kick off – Mayor and staff’s food donation Date: Friday, December 5, 2008 Time: 2:30 p.m. Location: City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West (Lisgar Street entrance) Food Drive Over 300 OC Transpo/City of Ottawa employee volunteers and their families will be at all Ottawa Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstores and selected Your Independent Grocers, accepting food donations and loading them on the Ho Ho HOCTranspo Bus. (See list of stores on the attached backgrounder.) Date: Saturday, December 6, 2008 Time: 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Location: All Ottawa Loblaws and Real Canadian Superstore and Your Independent Grocer stores. PLEASE NOTE: Twenty-nine stores will participate in this year’s drive. However, 9 Your Independent Grocers and the ValuMart store will not have a bus and volunteers present. Instead, food items will be gathered in large bins, and Food Bank trucks will visit each of these locations. Ceremonial delivery and campaign results announcement Santa and his helpers – managers representing Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstores, and Independent Grocers – will be rolling their Ho Ho HOCTranspo bus to the Ottawa Food Bank for the ceremonial delivery. The amount of food donated to this year’s campaign will be announced at that time. Date: Monday, December 8, 2009 Time: 11 a.m. Location: Ottawa Food Bank, 1317B Michael Street
