It took six organizers, one teacher, and one- hundred and sixty-eight volunteers to make the first ever Inside Ride a success at Earl of March Secondary School.

It took six organizers, one teacher, and one- hundred and sixty-eight volunteers to make the first ever Inside Ride a success at Earl of March Secondary School. The ride was so successful that plans are already underway for next year’s event. Organizers hope it will become an annual occurrence at the Kanata area secondary school.

Inside Ride is Canada’s first indoor cycling challenge and fundraising event dedicated to raising monies in support of families and children with cancer. The Inside Ride is a stationary cycling challenge. Thirty, state of the art racing bikes, were mounted, with mileage and speed gauged with odometers. Each cyclist rode for ten minutes to heart-pounding, uplifting music as cyclists rotated through the event.

Earl of March Secondary School Principal, Steve Massey says six grade 12 students - Julie Damaren, Kiran Singh, Imran Jaffer, Justine Reynolds, Cristina Witteveen, and Marin Petrovic, and teacher, Mr. Michael Sammon dedicated all of their free time, for over two months, to ensure the newest fundraiser was a success – and it was!

Students and staff raised a grand total of four thousand and fifty dollars for this remarkable cause. Mr. Massey added, “All one-hundred and sixty-eight participants were full of energy and school spirit, and the student organizers hope the event will be continued in the years to come.” If you are interested in bringing the Inside Ride to your school, please visit www.theinsideride.com for more information.
