Cambridge Street Community Public School
Presents Annual Fabric Flea Market
Saturday, October 18 – 10:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m.
At Glebe Community Centre
690 Lyon Street, Ottawa
Fabrics
from around the corner to around the world will be on display this
Saturday at the Cambridge Street Community Public School Flea Market.
This marks the thirteenth
year students, staff, and community partners have joined forces to
fundraise for sports and cultural activities. The money raised ensures
that students have the opportunity to exercise their minds and bodies
according to PrincipalKim Nelson.
The potential for student learning moments is infinite. Students watch,
listen, and learn as everyone comes together to make the Fabric Flea
Market a success. Ms. Nelson says two of the markets greatest
champions do not even have children attending the school. Gail
Cariou and Kay Young have been lending their support for several years
because they believe in supporting community schools and they
understand that field trips, sporting activities, and cultural
curiosity, enhance a student's learning potential.
Ms. Cariou, who founded the Fabric Flea Market 13 years ago says, "Who
would have thought there was enough fabric in the world to make this
event successful for so many years? At any rate, it's still fun, the
crowds keep coming, and Cambridge School depends on us. Every year we
ask ourselves, "How can we stop now?"
This year the Fabric Flea Market will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Glebe Community Centre located at 690 Lyon Street. There is a$2.00 admission charge.
If you like to sew, there will be fabrics, yarns, patterns and notions
for sale. All donations are gratefully accepted at Cambridge Street
Community Public School, which is located at 250 Cambridge Street
North. Principal Nelson says each year she is awed by both the greater
school community and the Ottawa region’s generosity.
