Meet the Artist: Sunday July 27^th, 2 to 4 pm.

Dennis Cardiff’s hyper-realistic paintings celebrate famous and infamous ladies of burlesque. Cardiff describes his meticulously detailed work as soft realism, a re-arrangement of the elements of real life to the point of creative perfection. He has been painting professionally for over thirty years and has participated in 27 art exhibitions throughout Canada. His art works may be found in over 60 public, corporate and private collections in Canada, the United States, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland.

Burlesque was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in American theatre from the 1930's until the late 1950's. It is currently experiencing a well deserved revival. Dennis’ research introduced him to many current and former burlesque performers.Many have worked with the biggest names in Hollywood. He found them to be some of the most generous, creative, industrious and intelligent people. The stories they have to tell are fascinating. These are truly living legends and national treasures. His paintings portray them to a wider audience.

Parkdale Gallery celebrates the diversity of artistic visions. Featured artists and sculptors, established or newly emerging talents, from near and far, are represented.
