All of the volunteer positions for Grey Cup 2004 are now officially full.

More than 1,400 volunteers have registered to fill more than 2,600 positions needed for the week-long Kickin’ It In The Capital Grey Cup Festival and championship game on Sunday, November 21st.  Most volunteers will be working at least two different shifts from the start of the week of football celebration, which begins November 17.

“The response from the community has been amazing.  We’ve seen people wanting to get involved in anyway they can,” said Kristina Sparkes, Volunteer Coordinator for Grey Cup 2004.  “We have families, teams and clubs that are volunteering together and many, many individuals that want to contribute to make this Grey Cup an amazing experience for all.”

Fans coming into the nation’s capital, as well as those living in the region, will see Grey Cup volunteers all over the city during the festival.  From the airport and train station, to hotels, and all of the hot spots, those giving up their time will be highly visible with their bright red, Grey Cup shirts and white hats.

Volunteers are involved in over 40 of the festival events planned as part of Grey Cup week.  On game day alone, more than 500 volunteers will be acting as hosts, assisting with security and traffic control – as well as assisting with stadium activities.

“It is wonderful to see the city of Ottawa embrace the Grey Cup so much and to come out and help in the capacity in which everyone has,” said Brad Watters, president of the Ottawa Renegades.  “Grey Cup 2004 will be a memorable event and it will be in no small part thanks to our many volunteers.”

The 92nd Grey Cup Game will be held on Sunday, November 21 at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The Renegades are honoured to host Canada’s premiere sporting festival and event. As an organization, the Renegades hope to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best Grey Cup festivals ever. In Ottawa, the Kickin’ it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival begins on Wednesday, November 17, featuring celebration events at various locales throughout the city, leading up to the game.
