This historic tour took place from March 7 to 17, during which the Orchestra visited Budapest and Szekesfehersav, Hungary, and Vienna, Austria. The Ottawa concert, under the baton of Music Director John Gomez, includes the same works that delighted audiences overseas: Fall Fair by Canadian composer Godfrey Rideout and The Canadian Shield by Canadian composer John Burge, as well as traditional favourites from the symphonic repertoire: Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp with two award-winning OYO soloists, Lara Deutsch and Antoine Malette-Chénier, Bizet’s L'Arlésienne Suite No. 2 and Smetana’s Two Dances from The Bartered Bride. The free tickets have all been given out, but music-lovers are encouraged to check for returns, or to come on the night of the concert when they will be seated if space is available.
