Winterlude festivities begin this weekend and with it, there will also be the unfortunate possibility of becoming the victim of a theft from your car or damage to property.

Winterlude festivities begin this weekend and
with it, there will also be the unfortunate possibility of
becoming the victim of a theft from your car or damage to
property.

The Ottawa Police Service is recommending the following
steps to keep your property safe while you enjoy Ottawa’s
famous winter event.

· Remove valuables from view. Even loose change can
make your vehicle a target.
· Don't leave personal identification, vehicle
registration, insurance certificates or credit cards in
your vehicle.
· Never leave your vehicle running and unattended.
· Always lock the doors.
· Park in well lit areas with pedestrian traffic.
· Report any incidents of theft from vehicles to
Police at 613-236-1222 ext. 7300.
