"if you like awesome music, good people and tasty drinks, zaphods has it. they put on super rad concerts of varying types of bands.
they support the local scene and have specialty nights. what more could you ask for? cute bartenders? oh alright zaphods has that too :P"

"i like zaphods because it is the only bar in ottawa where i feel like i fit in, no matter what, i always feel comfortable.
I never feel like im going to be sexually harrassed on the dance floor, i can leave my jacket and purse on the stage
or in a booth while i dance and never fear that its going to be stolen. The staff are always super sweet and they
remember your 'drink'. too much testostorone males are very rare . I KNOW EVERYONE.. and i can wear what i want,
i dont have to look like a slut to fit in. AND i can dance however i want, i dont have to grind or lap dance.
DRINKS ARE FAIR PRICES AND DECENT SIZES! with just the right amount of alcohol...never been ripped off at zaphods..
ok thats all for now, sorry about the novel, but i really do love zaphods."

Zaphod's always throws the most reasonably-priced, fun and exciting New Year's Eve party every year. We consistently present Ottawa's best line-up of bands to close out the year and ring in a new one. It's part of our philosophy to celebrate New Year's Eve like we celebrate every day of the year; with good people, good music and good cheer.

Featured bands this year:

POLITIQUE is a collective take on electro/indie/post-everything sounds, injected with adrenaline, heart, and soul. After spending a youth living in big bro's post punk phase...Kraftwerk, the Smiths, New Order, early Cure records, acid house, techno, new wave, drum n bass...then dissing it all thinking electronica was the be-all-end-all... with time, Politique learned how timeless music in general is, the old underground is new again - genres mean nothing these days. What an amazing time to be making music.

THE POLYTONES playful lyrics and soaring melodies will have you checking your irony at the door. Singer Lesia Manchulenko takes you on an emo-roller coaster ride, as she flails and spins, trills and swoops. Bassist George Jennings once held the low end of Celtic rock darlings Jimmy George, and drummer Brenda Bedford played traps with George and Lesia for nearly 10 years in Toque. In the year 2000, inspired by a new millennium, the three decided to head in a new direction, dusted off their little black books, and asked guitarist Ben Wilson (of Paperjack and Fisheyelens quasi-fame) to join the party. After the release of a self-titled EP, the Ottawa XPress dubbed The Polytones “Ottawa’s premier pop band” and the band played with many of their favourite artists — including The Arcade Fire, SuperFriendz, and Lowest of the Low —in town and on tour

MONO HUM: The Ottawa Citizen wrote, "30 powerful minutes of snappy, slightly dirty rock and roll." They evoke memories of The Kinks, Small Faces, Velvet Underground and Shocking Blue, among others.

DOLL are inspired by bands such as Sonic Youth and L7, as well as new additions to the scene, Magneta Lane and Die Mannaquin. With chunky riffing and incredibly catchy vocal melodies, Doll takes you on the ride of your life, this music is definately not for the faint of heart, so grab onto this train and don't let go as you won't want to be missing a note.

THE BUSH PILOTS m
usical influences run from Crazy Horse to Exile on Main St amid settings from liquor-soaked alleyways to windswept deserts in the Middle East. The Bushpilots are in their sixth year of burning up stages in Canada with their distinct brand of barn-burning rawk and kicked-in-the-heart country ballads.
