The countdown to Grey Cup 2004 is only 100 days away as the nation's football fans continue to get ready for the Canadian Football League's title game.
"The countdown is on and we're very pleased how ticket sales are going," says Ottawa Renegades president Brad Watters. "Tickets are continuing to sell very well and we are looking forward to a sellout. We are gearing up for an exciting week, and an interesting Grey Cup."
Only 12,000 tickets remain for the Grey Cup game, which will be played in a revamped stadium. The downtown Ottawa park will have a capacity of over 50,000 for the contest -- almost half of which is temporary end zone seating.
In celebration of the 100-day countdown to Grey Cup, organizers have also released an additional 1,000 executive tickets. These special tickets will be available through Ticketmaster beginning Thursday morning, August 12, 2004 -- offering fans a unique game-day experience and exclusive fan package.
Plenty of opportunities are also available for the public to help with the week's festivities as Grey Cup volunteers. More than 500 members of the Ottawa community have already pledged to aid in the event and many more positions are available for potential volunteers.
"Ottawa is a very supportive community and we look forward to building our volunteer base," said Watters.
The 92nd Grey Cup Game will be held on Sunday, November 21 at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The Renegades are honoured to host Canada’s premiere sporting festival and event. As an organization, the Renegades hope to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best Grey Cup festivals ever. In Ottawa, the Kickin’ it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival begins on Wednesday, November 17, featuring celebration events at various locales throughout the city, leading up to the game.
