“They have the talent to be as big as anyone in the world” - RONNIE HAWKINS

"...the two brothers are living a rock 'n' roll reality that's better than most folks' rock star fantasies..."
- NOW, Toronto..

The Weber Brothers first started playing at the age of six and eight. Raised in a suburb of Baltimore and weaned on pre-70s rock, Sam and Ryan Weber had barely honed their guitar chops – and weren't even in a band– when they shot off a demo tape to their hero Ronnie Hawkins in early 2000. Hawkins was so impressed by their tape that he invited the Weber boys up to his farm to hang out for a week and play some tunes. Nothing came of it, but when they called their pal Hawkins a few months later, he caught them off guard with the news that he had work for them. The Weber Brothers joined Ronnie Hawkins Band as "The Hawks", after completing Ronnie's infamous "90 Day Boot Camp".

On October, 4th 2002 the Weber Brothers were asked to take part in a tribute to Ronnie Hawkins held at Massey Hall. At the age of 18 and 20 the brothers played along side their heroes Garth Hudson and Levon Helm of The Band, as well as musicians like Jeff Healey, Kris Kristofferson and the Tragically Hip.

Ronnie Hawkins once said of his young prodigies "they have the talent to be as big as anyone in the world...".  Jan, 11th , 2003 The Weber Brothers released their first album "149 Lake Street" with special guest Garth Hudson of The Band.

The Weber Brothers have just released their 2nd Album entitled "Lost and Found". Besides an abundance of talent, their youthful energy and strong stage presence, the brothers have an acute sense of timing that makes the difference between a good band and a fantastic act.

The Populars, in their own words:

We're three guys from the northern Alberta bush who just want to play music. We grew up listening to classic punk staples like The Dead Kennedys, No Means No, SNFU and The Smalls; and all three of us played in a few punk bands back in the day. But we really earned our chops when we hit the road as the backup band for our buddy, Canadian alt-country rocker Mike Plume.
We toured non-stop for over 7 years and gained praise from both fans and critics as putting on one hell of a live show. During our travels, we rediscovered roots, rock and pop greats such as The Band, CCR, Elvis Costello, and Nick Lowe (among many others). We also became best buddies -- and one of the tightest back-up bands you'll ever find anywhere.

In 2002, Mike decided to go acoustic and focus on his song-writing, but the three of us weren't ready to stop playing together -- because we like to rock (and/or roll)! So, we moved our gear to a quiet hamlet in Prescott, Ontario to work on our own original material. We took our core punk roots and merged them with the rock and pop influences we picked up over the years, and came up with The Populars.

The Populars are basically a straight up rock band with a lot of energy and a lot of attitude. We like to think that we're just making good fucking music. The music we play is inspired by the artists who broke ground with their solid, honest 'Damn The Torpedos' rock n' roll - guys like Neil Young, The Clash and The Police (and any other artists that have something worthy to say).

Our music is dirty, loud, heavy, catchy, simple and raw, and anyone who's seen us live will leave with their heads smashed or with their jaws dropped -- and that's a Populars Guarantee.

We are The Populars. Dig it!
