Volunteers for Grey Cup 2004 and the five-day Kickin’ it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival will have an opportunity to learn more about the different positions available during a pair of Grey Cup Volunteer Open House events on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning of this week.

The Open House sessions will take place in Andrew Haydon Hall (Council Chambers) at Ottawa City Hall, on 110 Laurier Street West. The first open house is Wednesday, September 29 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The next open house is Saturday, October 2nd from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Volunteers are invited to drop in to speak to event captains about the types of positions that will be available during the Kickin’ it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival,” says Kristina Sparkes, Volunteer Coordinator for Grey Cup 2004. “We still are accepting applications for volunteer positions for the Grey Cup and the five-day festival.”

The host committee for the Canadian Football League’s title game are seeking help from the community for all the festivities surrounding the event. From the kick-off event on Wednesday, November 17 right up to game day on Sunday November 21 there are volunteer opportunities at events across the city. Volunteers will be asked to sign up for a minimum of six to eight hours, spread over one or two shifts, during the festival. Each volunteer will receive an exclusive Grey Cup 2004 Reebok shirt and hat, in addition to getting to take part in the festivities.

For more information on the types of volunteer positions available and to sign up online please visit www.greycup2004.com. Questions may be directed to Kristina Sparkes, Volunteer Coordinator for Grey Cup 2004, by emailing ksparkes@ottawacfl.com or by calling (613) 234-5329.
