CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY FOR GREY CUP 2004

Construction is underway at Frank Clair Stadium as the preparations for Grey Cup 2004 continue in the nation’s capital.

Work crews began the early stages of installing 25,000 temporary bleacher seats in a project that is set to conclude in approximately six-eight weeks. The endeavour will increase capacity at Lansdowne Park’s football venue to almost 52,000. The majority of the bleacher seating will be in the east and west end zones, to accompany the general seating of the 27,000-plus seat stadium.

Only the end zone seats remain for sale, with more than two months left until kickoff of the Canadian Football League’s title game. In fact, the top three price points for Grey Cup 2004 have already been sold out.

“We’re getting close to the Grey Cup, things are starting to get built and everybody is very excited,” says Renegades president Brad Watters. “The Grey Cup is just going to be tremendous and to see the work crews out there and getting things started is great to see. To have about 52,000 people here for the Grey Cup, and all the festivities surrounding the game all week – it will just be an event everyone will want to be a part of.”

The 92^nd Grey Cup Game will be held on Sunday, November 21 at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The Renegades are honoured to host Canada’s premiere sporting festival and event. As an organization, the Renegades hope to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best Grey Cup festivals ever. In Ottawa, the Kickin’ it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival begins on Wednesday, November 17, featuring celebration events at various locales throughout the city, leading up to the game.
