Five year old Curtis Porter was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on April 20, 2005. With a large tumor arising in his left adrenal gland, Curtis has been placed on a tough treatment protocol which will consist of 6 cycles of chemo (cycle 1, 2 and 4 being high-dose), surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, 1 mega-dose of chemo immediately followed by a stem cell rescue transplant, followed by multiple rounds of radiation therapy. You can find out more information on Curtis' progress on the family's website at www.porterzone.net.
A fundraiser for the family to help them offset the expenses incurred while Curtis is going through treatments in Ottawa and Toronto will take place on Monday, August 8 at O'Connors Pub in Kanata. The event will consist of a roast beef buffet dinner, silent auction, live auction hosted by Mauler from Hot 89.9, and music by the Eric Eggelston Band.
Tickets are $25 for the dinner, auction and dance, or $15 for the auction and dance. Additional information on the fundraiser can be found at http://www.porterzone.net/fundraiser/
To purchase tickets, please contact Tammy Schofield at 831-9170 or tschofield@rogers.com.
