The Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa in partnership with the Bytown Museum invites you to attend

Colonel By Day celebrates the accomplishments of Lt. Colonel John By and the workers in constructing the Rideau Canal and founding of Bytown; our present day Ottawa! Now in its 17th year, this heritage event has expanded to include new performances and activities which are sure to entertain the whole family!
Join CHOO/COPO and the Bytown Museum to commemorate Colonel By with a FREE fun-filled day of heritage. The festival will feature costumed characters and historically-based theatre; musketry, blacksmithing demonstrations; heritage craft demonstrations such as lace making and rug braiding; other demonstrations include canoe carving, making fresh bread from a clay oven and telegraphy; Scottish and English Country dancing; children's heritage-themed activities and storytelling by local storyteller Ruthanne Edward; musical performances by FiddleGround, Heritage Hands Ottawa Drum Club and Maura Volante; professional face painting; tabletop exhibits from local heritage groups and museums; a Celtic Cross Commemoration Ceremony; the new Colonel By Bistro, free admission to the Bytown Museum, and much more!
