Preparations are under way for the third season of the National Capital Commission’s (NCC) award-winning sound and light show on Parliament Hill, presented in collaboration with the exclusive sponsor Manulife Financial. In advance of new spring presentations, work has begun on the installation, testing and calibration of equipment for Mosaika: Canada through the eyes of its people.
Installation and testing will take place afternoons and evenings
from Thursday, May 17 to Friday, June 1, 2012.
For photo opportunities, behind the scenes access, video footage or photos of the show, or to arrange interviews with Mosaika’s creative and technical team, members of the media are asked to contact NCC Media Relations.
Seven presentations of Mosaika have been added in June so that students living in and visiting the Capital Region can experience this amazing free production. The spring shows will take place at 10 pm on June 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 13.
For its third summer season, Mosaika will be presented, free of charge, from July 6 until September 3, 2012 (weather permitting).
This 30-minute bilingual experience uses spectacular lighting effects, stunning animated projections and a rich tapestry of words, music and sounds to tell the story of Canada — our story — using the spectacular backdrop of the Peace Tower and the Centre Block.
Canadians can start contributing now to the interactive preshow
A popular element of the show returns. Every evening, Mosaika is preceded by a uniquely interactive preshow, involving Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast. By logging onto www.mosaika-sl.ca, visitors can create videos or post messages that are considered for integration into the preshow, which is updated regularly throughout the season with these contributions. Those who record a video on the website are able to view and share their messages online with the chance of having them projected on the Parliament Buildings on the evening of a show.
A Summertime Capital Experience
The NCC has captivated audiences for 25 years with its sound and light shows. Launched in July 2010, and seen by close to 460,000 spectators, Mosaika has already garnered twelve prestigious awards, and earlier this year was named one of the top 100 festivals and events in the province by Festival & Events Ontario.
Manulife Financial is the exclusive sponsor for Mosaika.
