Come and celebrate the 180th Anniversary of the Rideau Canal from August 3rd to 6th! From boating and outdoor leisure enthusiasts to heritage buffs and art lovers, the four-day celebration offers fun, interactive entertainment for the whole family.
Recognizing the Rideau Canal's prestigious designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (the only one in Ontario and one of only 15 in Canada), The Rideau Canal Festival is a dynamic celebration of the landmark's rich history and contemporary recreational use.
Join us at the Bytown Museum/Ottawa Locks to experience the story of the Rideau Canal with animated heritage presentations and live entertainment. Watch master stone carvers at work and bid to own one of their amazing creations. Take a stroll on a Heritage Walk with local historians as your guides, and drop by Colonel By Bistro for live entertainment and a snack. Then catch a Water Taxi or Canal Shuttle to Dows Lake for a weekend of flotillas and fireworks, and be part of the biggest floating birthday party the City has ever seen! Explore the docks, enjoy open air art exhibits and entertainers, and watch a parade of boats.
The party runs for the entire August long weekend, August 3rd to 6th - don't miss out! For a complete list of activities, visit www.rideaucanalfestival.ca.
