Fair Trade Ottawa Équitable (FTOÉ) presents its first annual wine-and-cheese fundraiser to celebrate the bounty of Fair Trade in Canada's Capital.
This will be the Fair Trade event of the season, bringing together Fair Trade (chocolate and wine) and local foods (cheese and beer) showcasing the best of Ottawa and beyond. Chocolatefor the evening will be supplied by Camino and Olivia Chocolat.
The evening will include speakers – including George Roter, CEO of Engineers Without Borders Canada, and Michael Zelmer, Director of Communications for Fairtrade Canada – special guests, city councillors and representatives from various organizations. Local businesses will be on hand, showcasing their Fair Trade wares for purchase. There will also be a silent auction of Fair Trade items.
The event is Ottawa's showpiece of Fair Trade Fortnight, launching Fairtrade Canada's “Take a Step” Campaign. Funds raised will help FTOÉ promote the availability of Fair Trade products in Ottawa, raise awareness about Fair Trade issues and bring Ottawa closer to being named a Fair Trade Town.
