The Capital Pride Parade will see some route changes when it takes place Sunday, August
28, 2011.
Instead of its usual route which follows along Wellington Street passing alongside Parliament Hill, the Parade will make its way down Bank Street, turn on to Laurier and head towards City Hall, where it will finish as it has in years past.
The Parade will start from its usual spot below the Garden of the Provinces along Wellington
Street. It will then turn right on Bank Street, left on Laurier and arrive at City Hall, where
the main gates are located for entry into the festival grounds.
Both Bank and Laurier will be fully closed except in two places, at the intersections of Bank/Albert and at Bank/Slater, to allow access for OC Transpo buses.
Capital Pride is also proud to report that for the first time, there will be an Accessible
Viewing Area at the South West corner of Bank and Laurier.
Capital Pride will proudly present its 2011 Parade Grand Marshall, Zelda Marshall.
With more than 70 entries in this year’s Pride Parade, it is time that noteworthy efforts
made by community members gain recognition. In its inaugural year, an award for the best
parade entry will be voted on by participants at the Capital Pride Info Fair on the festival
grounds.
