The sixth annual Harmony Bridges Conference has one goal in mind - acceptance. The aim of the one-day student-focused conference is to provide students with the tools to promote cooperation among their peers, parents, and the greater community.  Organizers say it is important for young people to realize that neither the colour of your skin or your mother tongue, nor your size or shape should determine your worth - your worth should be determined by who you are as a person, and how you treat others.

Student Counsellor Winston Bell says, “Harmony Bridges is a conference designed to provide participants with a forum where they learn how to promote positive relations and communication among the many cultures in their school and their community. Students will walk away from the conference with hands-on skills and knowledge that will help them make a positive difference in their lives.”
Date:             Friday, March 12, 2010
Time:           8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location:       Cafetorium, Confederation Education Centre, 1645 Woodroffe Avenue, Nepean
Theme:          Where Diversity Becomes Unity
The keynote address will be presented by Program Officer Jerry Longboat with the Canada Council for the Arts and Monica Etchier of the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health. Jerry and Monica will present the Medicine Wheel, its significance to the aboriginal community and how its application may be useful to every culture in our communities.

Featured workshops include Arts by Teacher Christie Stanhope of Woodroffe High School, Games and Music by Mr. Eko from the Embassy of Indonesia, and Dance by Earl of March Secondary School.
