The March 19 deadline is approaching for comment and submissions on the City’s updated Economic Strategy. The update process, which is being led by a 10-member steering committee of community leaders and City Councillors, will be delivered to City Council in June.
In an increasingly competitive local, national and global economic environment, the updated Economic Strategy is intended to provide direction and priorities for the City’s economic development policy and programming through 2015.
Residents and stakeholders from the business community, as well as a wide spectrum of other communities, including cultural, social, academic, environmental and rural, are invited to discuss vision, priorities and creative ways to achieve shared goals.
There are a number of opportunities for public and stakeholder participation. Seven white papers, developed to frame the discussions and to stimulate creative thought and innovative ideas, are available for viewing and comment at http://www.opinionottawa.ca/. The white papers are also available at all City Client Service Centres, at branches of the Ottawa Public Library and in Councillors’ ward offices.
Comment on the white papers is invited at www.opinionottawa.ca until March 19. Comments may also be submitted in writing to City staff via e-mail at economicdevelopment@ottawa.ca or through written briefs. A series of targeted meetings with key stakeholder and focus groups will take place until March 19.
