OC Transpo bus service will be available throughout the holiday period, from December 21 to January 1. This year on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day a full Sunday service will be provided, including the O-Train. On New Year’s Eve, Transitway routes 95, 96 and 97 will be increased and extended until 4 a.m.
On many bus routes, traffic will be reduced as people take time off from work for the holidays. But for other people this is the busiest time of year – either at work in the retail and service industry, or for people travelling across town to spend time with family and friends.
OC Transpo buses and operators will be there to take you to your destination. Special holiday bus schedules will be provided on weekdays to meet the demand for service. Weekend schedules will not be changed:
Monday, December 21 to Thursday, December 24: Reduced weekday service
Friday, December 25: Sunday service
Monday, December 28: Saturday service
Tuesday, December 29 to Thursday, December 31: Reduced weekday service
Friday, January 1: Sunday service
Holiday schedules are available at octranspo.com or by calling 613-741-4390. Riders may also call the automated schedule information service at 613-560-1000 plus their four-digit bus stop number to check arrival times.
Schools are closed between December 19 and January 3, so special school transit routes will not be running over the holiday period.
The Transit Information Centre (613-741-4390) will be open every day, including Christmas Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and New Year’s Day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Customer Relations Centre (613-842-3600) will be closed December 25 and 28 and January 1, and will close at 4 p.m. on the remaining weekdays during the two-week holiday period.
OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. All sales centres will be open Saturday, January 2, and the Rideau Centre Office will also be open on Boxing Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
