The National Capital Commission (NCC) invites Canadians, residents and visitors of Canada’s Capital Region to participate in the discussion on the future of the Greenbelt as part of the review process of the Greenbelt Master Plan. The Greenbelt is a natural and cultural landscape unique to the Capital and is of national importance. It covers approximately 21,500 hectares of green space, forming a crescent-shaped band that surrounds the nation’s capital. With its farmlands, forests and wetlands, it evokes Canadian rural landscape and ecologically sensitive areas. It also provides important space for recreational uses and accommodates specialized functions of the federal government related to research, air transportation and national defence. As part of the discussion on the future of the Greenbelt, the public and the media will be able to participate in the public forum in person on November 25 at the National Arts Centre (Panorama Room). This forum will also be webcast live, in both official languages, on the NCC’s website at www.canadascapital.gc.ca/ Public Forum: An Evolving Green Landscape in an Urban Environment – Canadian and Foreign Perspectives Date: November 25, 2009 Time: 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Location: National Arts Centre, Panorama Room 53 Elgin Street, Ottawa Noted speakers from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, including Maureen Carter-Whitney, Dr. Christopher R.
