Ottawa Schools Guide

Ottawa has four major school boards (not counting boards on the Quebec side of the river), and thousands of students enrolled from the Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 level. We also have a number of specialty schools on a variety of subjects.

School Boards

• Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (English public board)
• Ottawa-Carleton Catholic School Board (English catholic board)
• CÉP de l'Est de l'Ontario (French public board)

• Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA)
  The OSTA looks after school bus transportation for the major school baords in Ottawa. This is the place to look for the latest on school bus cancellations due to bad weather.

Full day kindergarten

• Ontario is phasing in full-day kindergarten over the next several years. A pilot project began in the 2009-2010 school year, with more schools added in 2010 and 2011. By 2011, up to 50,000 children will be enrolled in full-day classes. The province's goal is to have full-day kindergarten offered in all elementary schools by 2015-16.

  OC Transpo has an information page to students find their way to school on the bus. Many schools are served by 600 series bus routes, but their numbers aren't printed on bus stop flags.
